Nuclear Engineering

What do Nuclear Engineers do?

Harnessing nuclear energy to power the world! The application of breaking down atomic nuclei (fission) or of combining atomic nuclei (fusion), or with the application of other sub-atomic processes based on the principles of nuclear physics. Mostly concerned with the design, interaction, and maintenance of systems related to nuclear reactors, nuclear plants, and medical radiation applications.

Subfields of Nuclear Engineering

What do Nuclear Engineers study?

Nuclear engineers study the chemistry and physics behind nuclear fusion and fission and its applications. The field also includes the study of medical radiation, nuclear safety, heat/thermodynamics transport, nuclear fuel, radioactive waste disposal, and the concerns regarding nuclear proliferation.
